My upload seems stuck or is taking a long time

Large file uploads can take a while, especially on slower connections. Here is how to tell if something is wrong and what to do about it.

Is the upload actually stuck?

Before doing anything, check whether the progress bar is still moving, even slowly. A large file on a typical home connection can take several minutes or longer. A slow but moving progress indicator usually means the upload is fine — just patient.

Keep the browser tab open

Closing the browser tab, navigating away, or putting your device to sleep will cancel the upload. Keep the tab open and your device active until the upload finishes and the link is generated.

Tips for slow uploads

Use a wired connection

A wired Ethernet connection is almost always faster and more stable than Wi-Fi, especially for large files.

Reduce interference

If you must use Wi-Fi, move closer to your router. Thick walls and distance are common causes of slow or unstable uploads.

Check your upload speed

Run a speed test at speedtest.net to see your current upload speed. Upload speeds are often much slower than download speeds — sometimes ten times slower or more. A 10 GB file on a 10 Mbps upload connection takes about 2 hours.

The upload speed shown in your speed test tells you how long a file will roughly take to upload. Divide the file size in megabytes by your upload speed in megabytes per second to estimate the time.

Try a different browser

In rare cases, browser extensions or settings can interfere with uploads. Try Chrome, Firefox, or Safari with extensions disabled.

When to try again

If the progress bar has not moved at all for more than 10 minutes, the upload may be genuinely stuck. Refresh the page and start the upload again. If the problem keeps happening, try from a different network or browser.
